SUMMARY:Public speaking training for think tankers
DESCRIPTION:Members – £295 + VAT         Non-members – £495 +VAT   (150 CPD points)\nDo you want to speak more confidently? Do you want to understand more about nerves and how to control them? Do you want to find out more about how to craft and structure a message? Then this training is for you!\nOur all-day training session takes you\, with practical exercises and theory\, through how to become an engaging speaker\, how to structure your message to get your key points across and how to prepare for any speaking engagement. We also look in detail at how to deal with nerves. \nIt is a very practical session that will give you multiple opportunities to practise speaking in front of others. You will be asked to come prepared with a short speech on a topic you are currently working on and will then practise with this topic throughout the day\, to ensure that the course content is as useful as possible.   \nThe day will be a mixture of exercises\, group activities and theory with a heavy focus on interactive learning. You will leave the day with a clear idea of what good public speaking is and how to achieve it\, will have practised speaking in public multiple times and be well-versed in how to control your nerves. \nYou will be working with your peers from other think tanks and attendees will be encouraged to share best practice\, build networks and learn from each other. \nTraining outline:\nWhat is good public speaking?– What do we think of as good public speaking? \n– The mechanics of public speaking \n– First practice speech \nSpeaking confidently\, controlling nerves– What are nerves and why do we get nervous? \n– Voice and breathing \n– Routines to help control nerves \nBuilding your message– The importance of audience and building the structure of your speech \n– Rhetorical devices \n– Starting strong \n– Second practice speech \nPreparation and presence– Preparing for your speech – the room\, visual aids\, notes \n–Having presence and being present \n–Third and final practice speech \nLunch will be provided so you can continue the conversation throughout the day with your peers from different think tanks. \nRegister for your place* \n*Your organisation will not be invoiced until your place is confirmed. \nThis training session is worth 150 CPD points.

SUMMARY:Think tanks and AI - online workshop and discussion
DESCRIPTION:How think tanks are using AI\, which tools are the most useful and what guardrails each organisation puts around their use is a hot topic across all our different member networks. In May\, we will therefore be hosting an online workshop and discussion for anyone with an interest in this area to share their experiences\, suggestions and recommendations. \nBy the end of the workshop we hope that everyone will have a better understanding of how other think tanks are approaching the AI question\, some recommendations on particularly useful tools and suggestions for how to protect and encourage your teams to incorporate and manage AI use in your organisation. \nThis workshop is open to everyone in the membership – not just team leaders. We encourage those who are experimenting and using AI in their daily work to join the conversation as well as those in leadership roles who are deciding AI policy for their organisation. \nWe want to discuss AI in research\, communications and operations so the invite is open to every function in a think tank and all levels of seniority. We will not have a central presenter\, Smart Thinking will instead be facilitating a discussion\, so the workshop will be very participatory. It would be great if we could have each member think represented at the workshop to get the full range of how think tanks are working through this fast-evolving area. \nThe workshop will be split into two sections: \nPart 1 – What AI tools are you using and what for?\nTo have a clear idea of how think tanks are using AI we thought it would be helpful to gather a list of the different tools people across think tanks are using either for research\, data\, operations and communications (or anything!). We will be digging into what specific tasks people find them helpful for and compiling a list of tools that we can then share with attendees after the session. \nPart 2 – Encouraging experimentation and implementing guardrails\nAfter establishing how people are using AI in their work we will move the discussion onto how each think tank is both encouraging their teams to experiment and make the most out of AI but also what systems\, processes or guardrails they have put in place to protect both their teams and the organisation if things go wrong. \nIf you would like to join this webinar then please register for a place on the link below and you will be sent the link. \nThis webinar is worth 50 CPD points. \nRegister for your place
